My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Following the grief and horror of her discovery of Jack the Ripper's true identity, Audrey Rose Wadsworth has no choice but to flee London and its memories. Together with the arrogant yet charming Thomas Cresswell, she journeys to the dark heart of Romania, home to one of Europe's best schools of forensic medicine... and to another notorious killer, Vlad the Impaler, whose thirst for blood became legend.

But her life's dream is soon tainted by blood-soaked discoveries in the halls of the school's forbidding castle, and Audrey Rose is compelled to investigate the strangely familiar murders. What she finds brings all her terrifying fears to life once again.
In this New York Times bestselling sequel to Kerri Maniscalco's haunting #1 debut Stalking Jack the Ripper, bizarre murders are discovered in the castle of Prince Vlad the Impaler, otherwise known as Dracula. Could it be a copycat killer...or has the depraved prince been brought back to life? (Summary from Goodreads.com)

My thoughts: This was so darn good! The first book was intense but this second one was too! This one has the same main character, Audrey Rose, who is breaking all of 1888 society's rules by following in her uncle's footsteps training in the newly developed forensic medicine. When it comes to nonfiction I only seem to like reading about crime, murderers and science. Forensic Science is ALL of these which means I eat it up! After reading the Poisoner's Handbook, this series has become even more fascinating.

Audrey Rose is such a great MC with all of her bravery and brains! She's open to anything life throws at her and when Thomas gets involved it gets VERY interesting. The romance in this book is definitely up a notch from the last one. They seem to make a great couple and I'm rooting for them to become permanent honestly. Plus, the twist in this book that involved Thomas is perfectly delicious.

The setting in Transylvania at THE Vlad the Impaler's castle is ideal. The creepiness and the secret mysteries to uncover throughout the castle complete the atmosphere of fear that keeps you perfectly on the edge of your seat! I can't wait to see what Kerri does with NYC in the next book which she set up so darn well in this one. She is so good at suspense and twists and turns = love it!

My final thoughts: I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in this series! Anyone who likes history, mystery and drama will love this series. Kerri's research is really well done which is one of the things I enjoy the most about these books. Happy Reading!
