We begin our story in a far away land in a world similar to our own in the last century when carriages and Kings were still prevalent. Lucinda is a sadly used and abused young women who has lost her parents when she was very young and was taken in by a slightly distant relative who treats her like a slave. Everything changes for Lucinda the moment that a mysterious woman walks into their goldsmith shop and entrusts them with working on her huge gem. Once this stone enters Lucinda's world, her world is flipped upside down and inside out as she races to save both herself and another. Join her on her race; you won't regret it!
This was a nice, quick read. Definitely a younger 6-8 grade level book, but still a fun read. I loved how everything, even the bits you don't notice, ALL come together. A very nicely woven fairy tale. It was almost another Cinderella with a Narnia twist. I wonder if that's what she was going for!?
