Katharine Tulman, while under her aunt's boot heel, has figured out how to carefully find happiness in tiny, hidden ways...like keeping the books for the family. That is until she once again is called upon to do her aunt's dirty work by traveling to her Uncle's estate to have him committed to an asylum and therefore ensuring that her young, pudgy nephew has a healthy inheritance for someday while her aunt has access to watching over it all now...
Of course, when Katharine arrives at the estate and begins to unravel the mysteries around her she finds things are VERY different than she thought...

My thoughts: This was amazing! I absolutely ADORED this one and cannot believe I waited this long to dive into it! :( On the other hand, I now have the 2nd book to dive right into since I did procrastinate SO long. :)

What grabbed me from the very beginning was the estate and every single thing about it! W-O-W! How in the world did Cameron come up with all of this, and then how in the world did she keep track of all of it? Again, W-O-W! Plus, what's really intriguing is that her original ideas came from an actual person and place that existed just like Uncle Tully! How interesting is that!? Very, I think!

The thing that I always need along with a fantastic plot, is characters who have depth and these are all absolutely fantastic! Each and every one were full of interesting bits and pieces about them that added to the whole. Now, I don't want to give too much away by talking too heavily about the plot but I have to say that the I truly loved the way Cameron took "lost souls", or "broken people" and not only gave them a place to belong at the estate but gave them a sense of self worth AND hope! So much hope.

Final thought: I cannot wait to dive into book 2, and I SO GLAD Scholastic sent it to me via NetGalley! Woot! Woot! Here we go...
