The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong

The Summoning (Darkest Powers, #1) The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Chloe Saunders leads a dream life at A.R. Gurney School of the Arts. She studies film and theater, her passions, and hopes to be a film director some day. She's a bit quiet and her dad is gone about 98% of the time, but other than that life was ok. That is until she decided to dye her hair with red streaks and got her period finally, unfortunately the ghost of a janitor with a melted face chases her through the school building and it takes medication and a stretcher to get her out of there. Apparently after you attack your teachers, they'd rather you not come back to school anytime soon so she ends up at a group home called Lyle House which specializes in mentally troubled teens.
This was really good. It takes a while to get used to her seeing ghosts in their condition they died in and to get to know the characters of Lyle House, but once that all falls into place you have a nice thrilling and mysterious young adult book. I can't wait to try out the 2nd one. Check out the website just for the main character: http://www.darkestpowers.com/
