Review: The Dream Thieves & Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

The Dream Thieves
Series: The Raven Cycle, Book 2
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Release date: September 17, 2013
Published by: Scholastic Press
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

With the ley lines now awake, Ronan's dreams have become more powerful then ever before. They have even started to interfere in his daytime life. On top of things there are some very creepy people out there that are also after the Graywaren. What will The Raven Boys find along their journey to find Glendower.

My thoughts: First of all, this is truly Ronan's story in this book. Ronan is a very dark, sad and rather tightly wound character who we know very little about at the beginning of this book. As we read get farther into this book we begin to learn more and more about Ronan and the members about his family. His story is not a happy one I'm sad to tell you.

One thing I thought was really interesting was that Adam began to become quite a jerk in this one. I was not impressed. Even he and Blue begin to have issues, so I guess I'm not the only one who notices he's a jerk. Plus, Noah and Blue become closer friends and they even begin to share secrets which is rather sweet. I did keep hoping for Gansey and Blue moments but they didn't seem to happen as often as I wanted them to. :( I guess I have to wait for more books...sooo on to book 3!

Series: The Raven Cycle, Book 3
Release date: October 21, 2014

Will Blue be able to hang onto everything she has surrounded herself with? Her family? Her friends? Or will she lose it all?

My thoughts: This one was hard for me to get through for some reason. This 3rd book is really about the literal search for the King in different caves, using visions, etc. There's also more Gansey and Blue in this one...but just not enough! I want more, more, more!!!

Maggie's writing is excellent as usual too, and I really like where things went with some characters like Greenmantle and Piper in the end. I just had such a hard time getting through it when I should have been flying through the pages instead. Perhaps I'll do that with book 4!
