Toads and Diamonds by Heather Tomlinson
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
Darabani and Tana aren't sisters in blood, but they are sisters of the soul and sisters who carry the weight of gifts from the goddess Naghali-Ji. As they try to learn how to bear their gifts from the goddess, they are also trying to find their ways each on their way in the world while carrying their gifts. What happens next? Will they be able to help the people of their country while also keeping themselves safe? Will they be able to stay out of Governor Alwar's evil way? Will they be able to figure out what their gifts are meant for?
This was interesting. I liked that this was a remake of an old-school fairy tale. It was a bit slow though. I had a hard time trudging through it all. In the end it was ok. What did you think?
