This week's pre-publication "We can't wait to read it!" selections are...

Author: Jessica Khoury
Release Date: February 23, 2016
Published by: Razorbill

When Aladdin discovers Zahra's jinni lamp, Zahra is thrust back into a world she hasn't seen in in hundreds of years--a world where magic is forbidden and Zahra's very existence is illegal. She must disguise herself to stay alive, using ancient shapeshifting magic, until her new master has selected his three wishes.

But when the King of the Jinn offers Zahra a chance to be free of her lamp forever, she seizes the opportunity--only to discover she is falling in love with Aladdin. When saving herself means betraying him, Zahra must decide once and for all: is winning her freedom worth losing her heart? (Summary from Goodreads)

To get the story from the girl trapped inside the lamp makes this a top pick for me. I'm in.

Author: Janet Taylor
Release Date: March 1, 2016
Published by: HMH Books for Young Readers

When fragile, sixteen-year-old Hope Walton loses her mom to an earthquake overseas, her secluded world crumbles. Agreeing to spend the summer in Scotland, Hope discovers that her mother was more than a brilliant academic, but also a member of a secret society of time travelers. Trapped in the twelfth century in the age of Eleanor of Aquitaine, Hope has seventy-two hours to rescue her mother and get back to their own time. Along the way, her path collides with that of a mysterious boy who could be vital to her mission...or the key to Hope's undoing. (Summary from Goodreads)

This sounds like a great twist on the time traveling books I've read. I like that this is another historical time traveling too instead of contemporary.

What are you waiting on this week?

  2. I think both of those sound good. I've been wanting to read a Jessica Khoury book for a while, maybe that one will be it. Good picks!
