Review: Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer by Katie Alender

Marie Antoinette, Serial Killer
Author: Katie Alender
Release date: September 24, 2013
Published by: Scholastic
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When Colette Iselin heads off to Paris, France, on a class trip with her teacher, her two best friends, and several other classmates, she certainly had no idea how exciting and dramatic things were going to get when she left home. She knew she would be experiencing new foods, new culture, maybe some new art, and that she would hopefully be learning more about her own genealogy which goes directly back to France...but she certainly did not expect to have to deal with a serial killer on the loose!

My thoughts: This was a fast-paced and just, plain fun read! If you're looking for something that's not too deep, has the paranormal in it, snarky girls, romance and so much more. Plus, it was a quick one once I sat still and devoted an afternoon to reading it!

I have to say that even though most of it wasn't actually based on actual people who existed during Marie Antoinette's time, I was still enthralled with the flashback times and many of the "feelings" of that time were still right on. I also really liked how Alender was able to perfectly grasp the feeling of the "mean girl" atmosphere which Peely and Colette are dealing with the "Queen Bee" of Hannah.

Last thought: You should definitely check this fast reading, paranormal, head slicing book out if you're looking for a quickie read!
