Simone is known at school as “That Weird Fat Girl”, and she doesn’t mind being invisible. She has her sweet brother, Max, and her best friend, NIcola, to rely on and that’s enough. She sure can’t rely on her dad. He’s always at work, writing scripts for his T.V. show and letting his new girlfriend move in and tell everyone what to do.

Trying to escape her dad’s girlfriend, Simone joins a Zumba class and meets and befriends several middle-aged women who love to listen to her and give her advice. She drops some weight and begins wearing her favorite vintage clothes and suddenly her soon-to-be stepmother seems to be trying to feed her apples, which Simone is highly allergic, too!
At one point, her dad and his girlfriend leave for vacation, and Simone moves in with her brother and his 6 roommates--one who sneezes a lot, one who sleeps a lot, one who is a pre-med student...get the picture :)

This is a really fun twist on Snow White. I found myself giggling several times. I love a new twist on a classic tale, and this is one you won’t be disappointed in. If you want a lively summer read, Palmer’s story is for you.
